A workshop for people who are quiet and/or shy with Padraig O’Morain on Zoom
Workshop title: “Looking In - tactics and attitudes for quiet or shy people”
Zoom 29th April 7-8pm Ireland/UK time
In this event on 29th April, I'll be talking about being quiet or shy or introverted. They're not always the same thing, but there's a lot of overlap, and I've experienced all of these ways of being in the world.
Over the course of the event, I want to help you to learn how approaches derived from mindful acceptance, from CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy, and other philosophies, can help you to navigate what is often quite a loud world.
Claiming your space in the world
I'm not trying to turn you into an extrovert. I think that whether we're introverted or extroverted has a genetic source probably, but I do want to give you ways of understanding, of accepting yourself, as a quiet or maybe shy person in this world.
The basic approach is to help you in navigating your path through this world in a way that is satisfying for you, and that helps you to claim your place and your space in the world, without having to turn yourself inside out or become somebody else.
Outcome
My aim is that you will leave with a better relationship with yourself; a clearer understanding of yourself when you feel socially anxious or when you'd love to go away into a quiet place for a while; and that you'll have a small but valuable set of tools that you can start using straight away in everyday life.
Learn:
People can’t see inside your head
Sources of shyness or introversion in our makeup
Acceptance and how it helps you to move forward
Attitudes and tactics to help you feel at home in social interactions
Isn’t one hour a short time in which to cover this ground?
Yes, but if you book, you will also have access to a video recording of the hour and to an audio as well. In addition I will send notes to all who have booked.
Who I am
I am a counsellor and mindfulness teacher and the author of books published in several countries and languages. My books include Acceptance and Daily Calm. My newsletter, The Daily Bell, has been published every day since 2012. In previous career, I wrote about health and social affairs for The Irish Times. I am also an introvert and suffered (that’s the word for it) from shyness in my youth.
Things people say about my Zoom events:
Everyone should attend one of Padraig's classes. The difference between this & most mindfulness courses I've done is that he gives concrete examples of situations where one can apply change. Very down-to-earth and educational at the same time. 2021
The one-hour event went by quickly. It was relaxing, insightful, and enjoyable, made all the more special by the international group of participants. Padraig is a skillful and compassionate teacher. 2020
You can quote me as saying, uplifting, empowering and so worth while. 2021
