Stress gets a bad press. But when it's the right amount of stress, it helps to energise you and to make you alert and focused. When it's too much stress, it can make you distracted and fearful, and it can be exhausting.

In this one-hour event, I will lead you through exercises to help you to manage stress and to reduce unnecessary or chronic stress.

Stress from inside and outside

By unnecessary stress, I mean stress that is generated in your own mind and not by external circumstances. If you're in the habit of catastrophising about the future or of dwelling excessively on painful events from the past, then that generates what I would call unnecessary stress.

But there's also the stress generated by the outside world. Sometimes we can make choices that reduce or eliminate that stress and sometimes not. So it's important to know how to reduce its effects on yourself and on your body.

Stress is often a combination of both. The outside world may make you stressed and you may then think so much about that stress when you are away from it, for instance after working hours, that you create a whole new layer of stress yourself.

So we will look at all these factors and at what you can do about them. One hour it may seem like a short time in which to cover this important topic. However, you will also have access to a video recording of the hour and to an audio as well. In addition I will send notes to all who book. Putting all of this together and using it as you go forward can, I believe, have a substantial effect on reducing your stress.

In the “Good stress bad stress” hour, on Wednesday, 25th March at 7pm, we will do some practices, including a visualisation, that promote resilience to stress as well as giving us the tools to reduce stress.

The event will also be recorded and everybody who books will get access to a video link and also an audio as well as notes.

Things people say about my Zoom events:

Everyone should attend one of Padraig's classes. The difference between this & most mindfulness courses I've done is that he gives concrete examples of situations where one can apply change. Very down-to-earth and educational at the same time. 2021

The one-hour event went by quickly. It was relaxing, insightful, and enjoyable, made all the more special by the international group of participants. Padraig is a skillful and compassionate teacher. 2020

You can quote me as saying, uplifting, empowering and so worth while. 2021
