How pausing and second thoughts can help you respond to life’s challenges. With Padraig O’Morain on Zoom

Workshop title: “Pause to choose - a mindfulness approach for better choices”

Zoom 27th May 7-8pm Ireland/UK time

Pause to choose is about pauses and second thoughts and how they help you to make better responses to challenges in your life and in your day.

Automatic reactions

Our first thought when something happens that we like or don't like is often automatic or dictated by our history. But we could choose to stop at that point and consider responses that might serve us better than the first one.

The pause response is one of the core aspects of mindfulness practice - and you can cultivate it even if you don't want to spend twenty minutes focusing on your breathing (though that's quite a good thing to do.)

This event

In this event, I will lead you through attitudes and practices drawn from mindfulness and other approaches. For instance the existential therapist Viktor Frankl (author of Man's Search for Meaning) talked about the gap in which we can choose our responses to what happens.

My name is Padraig O'Morain. I teach mindfulness and have written a number of books such as Acceptance, Kindfulness and Mindfulness on the Go. I live in Dublin with my wife.

The live event will be recorded on the night and all who book will receive a link to the video and also a link to an audio of the event - so no need to worry if you can't be there on the night.

After booking you should see a confirmation on your screen and you should also receive a confirmation by email from Eventbrite. I will send you a Zoom link for the event the day before. You can contact me at pomorain@gmail.com

I hope I'll see you there. If you're not participating, you might like to try out my free daily tips in The Daily Bell. You'll find more at padraigomorain.com/dailybell

Outcome

My aim is that you will leave with an understanding of the usefulness of pauses and second thoughts in navigating your world. You will also have techniques to help you apply what you have learned.

Isn’t one hour a short time in which to cover this ground?

Yes, but if you book, you will also have access to a video recording of the hour and to an audio as well. In addition I will send notes to all who have booked.

Who I am

I am a counsellor and mindfulness teacher and the author of books published in several countries and languages. My books include Mindfulness on the Go, Acceptance and Daily Calm. My newsletter, The Daily Bell, has been published every day since 2012. In previous career, I wrote about health and social affairs for The Irish Times.

Things people say about my Zoom events:

Everyone should attend one of Padraig's classes. The difference between this & most mindfulness courses I've done is that he gives concrete examples of situations where one can apply change. Very down-to-earth and educational at the same time. 2021

The one-hour event went by quickly. It was relaxing, insightful, and enjoyable, made all the more special by the international group of participants. Padraig is a skillful and compassionate teacher. 2020

You can quote me as saying, uplifting, empowering and so worth while. 2021
