Affirmations event

For thousands of years, affirmations and mantras have helped people to motivate themselves, comfort themselves or to steady themselves emotionally. That’s why It isn’t unusual to see elite sports people using affirmations or mantras to steady themselves at crucial points in a game. The value of affirmations and mantras has been backed up by research and I will tell you more about that in this event.

In the session you will learn:

How affirmation work.
What the research says.
How to use affirmations for your own benefit.

What happens during the event?

In this one-hour and 15 mins event, we will look at affirmation and mantras, at the research about them and how they affect brain and behaviour, and of course we will look at specific affirmations you may wish to adopt.

We will do some breathing exercises which will include affirmations (not out loud).

Later I will email material to help you to apply what you learn. This will include a link to an edited (so that participants are not identified) video of the event. I will also send you notes and, later, an additional email to remind you of its main points.

About Padraig O'Morain

I have practised mindfulness since the late 1980s, have taught mindfulness throughout Ireland and in London, have demonstrated mindfulness on ITV, RTE and TV3 and have had books on mindfulness published in several countries and several languages. These include Kindfulness – be a true friend to yourself with mindful self-compassion and Acceptance – Create change and move forward. My aim is to make mindfulness and related approaches easily accessible to people in their everyday lives.
